Aloha! CTY 2008

Welcome to our blog!

We hope this summer is an exciting and enriching experience for you and your students. The staff of Atherton Library is ready to assist you. We've posted information here on some of our services and resources.

Some highlights this year:
  • Ordering a small collection of books to support the new Volcanoes course.
  • Creating a book display gathering titles from our Reference, General, and Hawaii-Pacific collections to support the Oceanography and Volcanoes courses.

HPU Libraries Facts (click for more info)
  • Two libraries: Atherton Library, Hawaii Loa campus and Meader Library, downtown campus.
  • Atherton Library houses the physical and natural sciences, marine sciences, nursing, military studies, humanities, and Hawaii-Pacific collections.
  • Meader Library houses the business, social sciences, and computer sciences collections.

Atherton Library Hours (June 29 - August 9)

  • Sunday 1 - 5 pm
  • Monday - Thursday 8 am - 9 pm
  • Friday* 8 am - 5 pm
  • Saturday 9 am - 5 pm
*Closed on Friday, July 4th

Library Catalog (click to begin search)
  • Search for books, e-books, and AV materials.
  • AV materials are housed in the Educational Technology Center (ETC).
Borrowing Privileges (click for more info)
  • All CTY staff have borrowing privileges; students do not.
  • Upon request teaching staff will be allowed to borrow Reference books for classroom use.
  • Loan period is 28 days or until August 8. Two week renewals are available.
  • A Book Delivery Service is available to transfer books between libraries. Requests take 2-3 days to fill. Forms are available at the Circulation counter.
  • HPU Libraries policies, fines, and fees will apply.
Online Databases (click to access Research Databases page)
  • We subscribe to nearly 80 online indexes, full-text databases, and e-book collections covering a wide range of subject areas.
  • Search our Periodicals List if you are looking for a specific magazine or journal title. You can find out our holdings and location information.
Library Orientation & Research Assistance
  • We welcome and encourage you to bring your classes into the library for research.
  • Schedule visits in advance (minimum 24 hours).
  • Provide a list of student research topics so that librarians can identify appropriate resources for your students.
