Granola Bar Trivia Question Answers

Here are the answers to the trivia questions found on the granola bars and other snacks distributed by Atherton Library staff during National Library Week.

  • How many e-books can you access from home via the Libraries tab on Pipeline?
    • Nearly 48,000. This number increases each year as we add new titles and collections. These e-books are electronically scanned versions of print books. They offer features such as keyword searching, bookmarks, highlighting text, and best of all, 24/7 access from home.
  • How many databases are found on the library's Research Databases page on Pipeline?
    • 82. Our research databases cover all disciplines and provide access to abstracts, full-text articles, reports, primary documents, statistics, and much more. This is information you can locate online but to read it will cost you big bucks. Why pay for it yourself when the library has already paid for it for you? See your librarian for more details.
  • How many people work at Atherton Library?
    • Nine. Our staff includes 3 full-time librarians, 1 part-time librarian, 1 full-time library assistant, and 4 part-time student assistants. We are all here to assist you with your research needs so stop by our service desks anytime for help.
Remember to enter our contests for a chance to win valuable prizes including tickets to the Kokua Festival and Starbucks or Jamba Juice gift cards. For details on how to enter see the post below or click here.

Can you guess...

...the number of candies in the jar? The person with the guess closest to the actual count wins all the candy in the jar plus a $15 Starbucks gift card. Stop by Atherton Library April 14-17 during the HPU Libraries' National Library Week celebration and give us your best guesstimate. Open to all students, faculty, and staff on the Hawai'i Loa campus. One entry per person.

What is National Library Week?

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.

All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.

Four weeks and counting!

How are you holding up? The end is in sight! If you are experiencing information overload or just don't know where to start, come see us in the library. Librarians are always here to help you with navigating the databases, locating the right resources, or just pointing you in the right direction. Have a seat at the Reference Desk and just tell us what you need.

Our hours for the rest of the semester will be as follows:

Monday - Thursday 8 am - 9 pm
Friday 8 am - 7 pm
